1998- Present

Modified and built the wooden 42' sailboat "Olga" designed by George Buehler. Completed in 2000 and sailed around the world, via Panama and the Cape of Good Hope, from 2000-2003. Work included installing all systems, electronic, propulsion etc. Details at worldvoyagers.com. Presently building an all aluminum 4 place kitplane on floats.

1994-1998

 Designed and built the interior (including ALL systems) of a 40 foot steel cutter for Dr. Patrick Murray. Worked at Green Marine building tank test models for the "Americas Cup Races". Worked at Portland Yacht Services restoring the "William Hand". Restoration included replacing lower sawn frame pieces. and re-planking from the waterline down. Finished the restoration of a 20 foot Cape Cod catboat including new deck, cabin and engine installation. Worked at DeLorme Mapping in the design and construction of a 42 foot space truss globe. Work included design and prototyping of space truss, design and implimentation of computer control system for the rotating base and main axle and construction of the space truss. Presently building a 42 foot V-bottomed cutter "Iwalani" for a round the world cruise.

1985-1994

 Boatbuilding Instructor at the Maine Maritime Museum, Bath, Maine. Taught all aspects of wooden boat-building: design, lofting, smooth and lap-strake planking, rigging, spar-making, welding, bronze casting, and antique engine restoration. Also taught boat restoration, including two 32 foot launches for the Larchmont Yacht Club, a Folkboat, several one-design boats, and small skiffs. Graduates have been placed in prestigious local yards, others have been placed in museum work at the Plimoth Plantation Museum, on the "USS Constitution", Mystic Seaport and at the Mariner's Museum in Virginia.

Was granted a six-month leave of absence in 1990 to build a 36 foot Long Island fishing boat. Work included lines-taking from the original and carvel V-bottomed construction.

1984-1985

 Worked for Lawrence Ray, Milbridge, Maine converting a 50 foot motor yacht into a stern dragger and replacing deck on the 60 foot purse seiner"Lawrence Wayne".

1982-1984

 Designed and built, to Coast Guard specifications, a 65 foot Hackmatac schooner, "Janet May" Milbridge, Maine. Felled 30,000 feet of timber, assisted at the saw mill, and completed constrution with one other person in 52 weeks. See "Wooden Boat issue #63".

1980-1982

 Worked on Beals' Island for Benny Beal and Dougie Dodge. Finished a Newman 46 for offshore lobstering and repaired a scallop dragger. Also worked for Young Brothers finishing Fiberglass hulls.

1979-1980

 Built a replica of a 36 foot oyster sloop for the Suffolk Marine Museum, Sayville, Long Island, New York. Work included research, lines-taking and carvel construction. Completed construction in one year.

1977-1978

 Designed and built a 52 foot plywood sharpie schooner, "Squaw". See Wooden Boat issue #33.

1975-1976

 Built replica of "Indian" class daysailer for Dennis Puleston.Work included research, lines-taking and carvel construction. See Wooden Boat issue #21.

1968-1975

 Apprenticed to grandfather, Stanley Grodeski, of Long Island, New York. Engaged in all aspects of boat repair and construction.



Interests

 Sailing: both coastal and offshore, hiking, cross country skiing,web-page design and programming, model plane and full scale flying (private pilot).
